'We have just returned from a fabulous long weekend at the beautifully restored 'silk house' in the hills of Tremezzo over looking Lake Como, La Casa Della Seta.
When we say 'overlooking Lake Como' we really mean it - the views from every room are simply breathtaking!!
Our hosts Ashley and Summer could not have been more hospitable and made us feel very welcome. From the moment we arrived nothing was too much trouble and the tips and advice on where to go and how to get there was really helpful.
The property itself is spotlessly clean and beautifully presented with modern furniture and bathroom/shower suites, whilst keeping the charm and character of the old building. Our room had a fabulous balcony that let us soak up the all-day sun whilst enjoying the spectacular views.
For drinks before dinner we went to Bar Roma as they had a nice little terrace on the lake. We mainly ate in local restaurants at the bottom of the hill in Tremezzo, La Locanda being our firm family favourite.
We visited Bellagio on the ferry from Caddenabia (think it was about 7.50 euros per person for a return trip), Como town (40 mins on ferry, so more of a full day out) and Lenno (a short trip south on the ferry or bus) where we took a short walk to visit Villa Balbianello, famous for being owned by a renowned Italian adventurer and subsequently used in Hollywood movies such as Star Wars and Casino Royale.
All in all, we had a great few days away and would thoroughly recommend the property, the hosts, the room, the fresh mountain air and of course ......the views!!'
